The five magnificent marble temples of Dilwara are one of the most sacred pilgrimages of the Jains. They are an overwhelming blend of simple beauty and exquisite elegance. The simplicity in architecture reminds one that Jainism as a religion "encouraged honesty and practice of moderation in everything". Naki Lake The Nakki Lake presents a kaleidoscopic view to the discerning tourists. It is situated amidst hills which make it even more strikingly quaint. Legend has it that the lake has been carved out by the gods with their nails. It is a popular spot for boating and the only artificial lake in India that is 1,200 m above sea level. The surrounding hills have several areas of interest for nature lovers. Brahma Kumari Ashram Scores of people from all over the world find the Brahma Kumari Ashram or Home in Mount Abu, literally meaning the "mountain of wisdom", an ideal haven where they can stay in peace. The Prajapita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya is a 60-year-old institution headquartered at Mount Abu in Rajasthan and has become one of the most popular destinations for the spritually inclined. Founded about sixty years ago, the Brahma Kumari mission has become popular all over. Shopping in Mount Abu Shop for Rajasthani as well as Gujarati artworks and handicrafts. There is a wide range of marble artefacts, sandalwood souvenirs, silver jewellery and embroidered skirts and jackets on hand. Kota saris, bangles and linen with Sanganeri prints, light weight Jaipury quilt are also available. The excellent places at which to shop include Rajasthali, Rajasthan Government Handicrafts Emporium, Khadi Bhandar and the Kashmir Cottage Emporium. Best Time to Visit : Though the lush environs of Mount Abu are welcoming all year round, however the best time to visit is from February to June and from October to December. In the early weeks of June Mount Abu celebrates the summer festival and the streets come alive with traditional music and dance, during the festival there's much to see and even more to do , so if your schedule permits, the summer festival is our choice of time at which to visit. How to Reach : Air : The nearest Airport is in Udaipur, 207 km away. Daily flight form Delhi, Mumbai and Jaipur are available to Udaipur. One can easily hire a taxi from the airport for the final lap. Rail : Abu Road is the nearest railway station and is about 29 kms from Mount Abu. It is situated on the Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Ajmer-Jaipur-Delhi route. From Abu Road one can take a jeep, taxi or bus to Mount Abu. Road : Udaipur is 156 km away, via Palanpur; Jodhpur is 235 km away, via Sirohi and Pali; Jaipur is 509 km away via Pali-Ajmer and Ahemdabad is 222 km away. Mount Abu is connected to all the major towns in Northern and Western India. Rajasthan Roadways also runs very comfortable deluxe buses from Jaipur and Abu Road to Mount Abu.
